Expert Providers Deliver Emergency Management Solution to School

Case Study

Problem – Cumberland County Technology Education Center (CCTEC) is a new high school located in Vineland NJ. When opening this state of the art vocational school the goal was to be at the forefront of integrated technology and security initiatives.. With the recent issues in school safety in the news, CCTEC has been exploring ways to enhance communications with teachers, students and parents. The school district wanted to make safety and security a top priority in the design.

Solution – ComTec and Sonitrol partnered to create an integrated mass notification system which will be useful on a daily basis as well as creating a meaningful solution in an emergency. This solution included integrated hardware and software with the access control system, in-building electronic signage, the phone system and the phones and computers of the school

Benefits – The system has a range of benefits. On a daily basis, authorized users can send messages to small or large groups, which can be delivered via SMS or a custom smartphone application. The messages can be one-way, require acknowledgement, or require a full response. In the event of an emergency, the system is automatically tied to the Sonitrol live monitoring system, where expert staff can assess the situation, and automatically bring in the appropriate emergency response, whether it is medical, fire or police. Simultaneously the schools staff can utilize the HD Camera system to view events in live and review recorded footage to understand what is and what took place.
